Another redox reaction

Respiration is actually a redox reaction too. It is a transfer of hydrogen from suger to oxygen.

In the catabolism of glucose the coenzyme NAD+ takes the electrons from the substrate and passes them along. In this case NAD+ is an oxidizing agent.
